How to enter…

To be in with a chance to win, your wedding must be between 1st February 2017 and 31st March 2018. Book a design consultation and pay the 30% holding deposit before Saturday 21st January 2017. We will then select the winner at random on Tuesday 24th January 2017.

You need to book a design consultation and pay your 30% holding deposit before Saturday 21 January 2017 (this is non-refundable unless you are the lucky winner) . There is a small consultation fee of £30.00 which is refundable off your booking total. Colour visuals of your design are available on request once your booking has been confirmed and paid but remain the property of Angel Cake Company. Angel Cake Company reserve the right to use photos of cakes we have created for any promotions, permission to use photos of bridal couple will be requested.  Once the lucky winner has been announced there cannot be any design alterations. Angel Cake Company Trading Terms apply – a copy of these will be given to the bridal couple upon confirmation of booking.

Our designers will fashion almost anything from a fairytale castle to cascades of fresh or sugar flowers to reflect your wedding theme, colour scheme and match your vision for the focal point of your wedding breakfast.

All our cakes are freshly baked from scratch, with no preservatives, artificial flavouring or colouring, and skilfully hand-decorated with the finest sugarcraft, from grand to minimalist or spectacular. For this reason each customer has a personal quotation.

With all the excitement of booking a venue, trying on dresses and selecting flowers, the cake – a major focal point of the day – is often left until the last moment to organize.

Due to our policy never to over-book and to guarantee you, the client, the highest level of service, we recommend that you make arrangements for your cake at the earliest available opportunity. Ideally this should be a minimum of 6 months in advance, but as many weddings are now held on week-days, please always check with us to ensure we are able to accommodate you and/or call the shop to discuss your requirements.

Design Consultation

Arrange a consultation with our designer

We recommend you arrange a consultation with our designer, when we can fully discuss all your requirements together with sample cake tasting in relaxed surroundings. Prior to your appointment you should give some thought to main points for discussion. See the Check Lists below…

Your wedding breakfast deserves a focal point – a splendid cake. So it must be planned in every detail. You can use this plan to ensure that your cake will take pride of place.

As soon as the date for your wedding has been set you will need to begin checking out suppliers, asking friends for recommendations, enquiring at local retailers, bakeries, etc.

And as soon as possible book a meeting with a specialist. You must bear in mind that the summer months are booked up very early.

At Angel Cake Company we welcome requests for complimentary consultation appointments which will entail some consideration beforehand.

You will need to inform your cake designer about the date and venue for your big day; the number of guests; the theme and colour scheme for the flowers, bridesmaids’ dresses (take a fabric swatch with you) etc.; the style of the finished cake, take pictures or magazine illustrations.

At the consultation we will supply samples of the types of cake you may prefer: chocolate, lemon, sponge, traditional fruit cake, to name but a few.

Our designer will work with you to ensure the finished cake will fulfill all your expectations, draw up an estimate of costs and specifications for you to take away for discussion with your family.

When you decide to confirm your booking (at least 3 months or more before the big day) we will ask you to pay a 30% non-refundable deposit to secure our diary date – we only take a maximum of two weddings on a single day. Check the delivery arrangements, and advise us of the contact name at the venue, a returnable deposit cheque for any hired equipment and the person responsible for its return.

If you have requested fresh flowers on the cake, one month before the day ensure the florist has been contacted and the flowers are ordered.

Also at this point you will need to pay the final balance outstanding. Angel Cake Company will then liaise with your catering contact and take responsibility for ensuring that your cake will be perfectly displayed at the reception venue.

Wedding Cake Types

Various styles for your dream wedding cake

Stacked Wedding Cakes.

The most popular at present is what is known as the “American Stacked” cake. This is where each layer of cake – which can be a different flavour to the next layer – is positioned directly on top of the last.

A variation in this design which gives more visual impact and height is where the cake is stacked with inserts filled with fresh flowers.

Cakes can also be separated by traditional pillars, perspex separators that can contain jewels, shells, flowers and the like or can be completely separated by using traditional chrome stands.

Cup Cakes

As modern tastes & fashions evolve a different approach is demanded of the professional wedding cake maker.

Angel Cake Company ensure we keep all the latest trends available. Cup cake cases are constantly changing and improving so we keep a myriad of colours and designs and cupcake wraps to complement your wedding theme.

Cup cakes can be a more cost effective, but no less charming, as treats for your guests. They can also be beautifully packaged as gift favours for taking home as a reminder of a wonderful day.

Our cup cakes are hand baked and decorated the day before your wedding so are as fresh, light and moist as possible.


Mini Cakes

Individually iced mini square or round cakes can be made in any of the cake types described, but as some cakes are more suitable than others this will be discussed at your consultation.

Whilst the visual effect of a stand full of mini cakes is stunning if your budget is limited please remember that these cakes are time consuming, and therefore a costly choice.

Mini cakes pre-packaged make a personal and novel thank you gift for chief guests such as parents, bridesmaids and the best man. They may be designed to complement your main cake, and beautifully packaged to present as an individual thank-you gift at the end of the ceremony.


Cheese Stack

This is a modern trend that is becoming more popular as weddings tend to be less formal. A cheese stack will form a novel end to the buffet or wedding feast.

The cheeses are stacked, or displayed on a cake stand, decorated with tiny tomatoes on the vine, grapes, fresh figs and herbs, etc., and cut into by the bride and groom as is a traditional wedding cake.

Popular local choices include Cornish Yarg, Dorset Blue Vinney, Vulscombe goats’ cheese, Maryland cheddar, Somerset Brie and Somerset Camembert.

Chocolate Mud Cake

Rich Chocolate Mud Cake

Our award winning moist, indulgent, very chocolatey cake, made with cream, with a rich chocolate butter icing, or to make it more grown-up try it with luxurious ganache.


Traditional Vanilla Sponge

A light, delicious vanilla sponge made with local Dorset free range eggs and butter sandwiched with organic homemade raspberry jam and a moreish vanilla butter icing.


Lemon Drizzle Cake

A moist, refreshing & scrumptious cake, laced with fresh lemon zesty juice syrup which may also be served as dessert. Made with local free range eggs, pure butter and fairtrade lemons, lemon butter cream and zestful, tangy lemon curd.


White Chocolate & Raspberry

A delicious rich, buttery, alternative sponge created with a with a heady mix of raspberries and melted white chocolate.  Perfect to treat your loved ones with an extra taste of summer – just like fresh scones with cream and jam.

Coconut & Lime Cake

Coconut & Lime

This is one of our most popular flavours. A very moist cake with tropical coconut and the zing of lime juice and zest throughout to give it that special lift.


Salted Caramel Cake

An irritable, sweet, but salty and aromatic cake. Made with real butter, rich creamy caramel and cornish sea salt, sandwiched with a deliciously rich butter cream enhanced with caramel and a sprinkling of salt.

Rich Fruit Cake

Our traditional fruit cake is packed full of juicy dried fruit.  Once matured for extra flavour and fed with boozy dark rum giving it a delicious rich, moreish taste they are then covered in almond paste (marzipan) and decorated in an icing colour of your choice.  A little goes a long way.

Coffee & Walnut Cake

Just like Nana used to make, an old favourite coffee flavoured sponge with a nutty texture.  We sandwich it with espresso flavoured butter cream popular with the men.

Chocolate Sponge Cake

An alternative to our Rich Mud Cake – a light chocolate butter sponge is ideal for children or those with a light palette.  A tasty chocolate flavour sandwiched with a mouth-watering chocolate butter cream.

In order to benefit fully from your consultation we recommend you give some thought to potential areas for discussion. It may help to print this page to focus your design ideas.

  1. Number of wedding guests.
  2. Nature of service – to be served as dessert, or as a token taster.
  3. The traditional saving of the top layer (rich fruit cake) or need for an extra cutting cake.
  4. The flavour of the cakes. A combination of types is always an option.
  5. The colour scheme of the wedding – the bridal bouquet, bridesmaids’ dresses, bunting, buttonholes, etc.
  6. The character or theme of the wedding – Traditional, Classic, Modern, Country Garden, etc.

Wedding Cake Portion Guide.

Fruit cake is normally served in smaller portions as it is very rich and denser than sponge.

Finger pieces are approximately 1″ X 2.5″ and dessert portions are approximately double this size. The number of portions is only a rough guide and will depend on who is cutting up your cake, how generous you wish to be and how hungry your guests are. Be guided by your design consultant if you are in any doubt.

Delivery and Display

As part of the exclusive service Angel Cake Company extends is the delivery and set-up provision. In order to offer this service and never over-book, we are limited to our delivery radius. Check our Delivery Map.

There is a charge for this service, but to lessen the stress on the day and for the complete peace of mind of the bridal couple, we do recommend that you do include this in your package.


If you wish to collect and set up your wedding cake yourself we can provide you with a transportation box, assembly & display instructions and a guide note to pass to your co-ordinator or caterer.

Please note that once collected the full responsibility for the safety of your order is yours and Angel Cake Company will not be held responsible for any damages during transportation and set up.

We Hire Cake Stands

We carry a large selection of cake stands, separators, plinths, cupcake towers and cake plates for hire to display your cake to it’s best advantage.  We also have a choice of knife & server sets.

We can offer these for hire, subject to availability, whether your dream cake is created by Angel Cake Company or by yourself. We have number of other stands and pedistals available that are not yet shown here. (We’ll add some more photos soon).

Please call the shop to check hire costs, terms & conditions and booking availability. The hirer has the responsibility for returning all hired items, undamaged, to reclaim the deposit unless otherwise agreed for our paid collection service.
